You will read the setup, thinking “yeah, That’s right.”, “What’s wrong with that opinion?”, or “I’ve said that before.” Then I will lay out an eloquent argument against that opinion, with piece-by-piece points and facts. I will uncover loopholes and faulty logic and contradictions.

By the time you finish reading, you will become enlightened and think or say, “Damn, I never looked at it that way from your logic.” Or “I just never knew that particular fact to make me look at the broader theme in a new way.” Sometimes your logic is off with all the facts available, and other times, lack of facts will throw the logic off.

Other times, I may say things that many of you agree with, but maybe just never thought to use the arguments that I make to prove your own point. You will have a “I couldn’t have said it better, myself” moment. Sometimes, I listen to other influencers, leaders, and thinkers and have the same “I wouldn’t have thought to use that point to support the same argument.” And also, I have “that’s a great point” moments. Whatever point I make, please use the same point and argument to argue against the propaganda and dead-thinking opinions of your peers. Or just share the articles, or do both. And most importantly, enact the solutions I offer as well.

There will also be a group of readers who have made the exact points and arguments I make on this site. You will have a “Thank you! I’ve been saying the same thing!” moment. I will basically be preaching to the choir and you are the choir I’ll be preaching to. There are plenty of influencers, spokesmen, and thinkers that have said the same thing on their public platforms that I’ve said in non-public, personal conversations. It’s a great feeling to have your instinctive, internal perceptions and opinions validated by external stimuli in the form of me. What can I say? Our internal, God-conscious frequencies match.

Agreeing to Disagree is Totally Fine

There will be some of you who will disagree with me based on your egotistical attachment to your views, beliefs, and/or opinions. Many people feel like they are their views, opinions, and beliefs. So by attacking the opinion and thought frequency, you are attacking them. To that, I’ll say this. Get out of your ego. The attack is not on the individual. The attack is on the thought pattern held by the individual. As I criticize and make a sound argument against these common held, silly opinions that you have said and agreed with frequently, you will think, “He’s talking about me. To hell with him.” or “He doesn’t know what he’s talking about.” or “I don’t like him no more.”

Unconsciously and instinctively, you will grudgingly agree with the power of my mind and words. But consciously and outwardly, you will loudly shut me down and attack my opinion. That’s called cognitive dissonance. That’s also your ego speaking. Listen to your soul, not your egotistical attachment to your opinions and your egotistical need to be right and stand on your square. You don’t learn anything that way.

The most important group is the one who agrees with most of my points or understands most of my points, but disagrees with certain sub-points or even the broader points, but the disagreement isn’t an egotistical defense mechanism based on being the offended “bit dog that hollers.” Instead, the disagreement is based on an intellectual curiosity and a need to understand my point. This group internally disagrees and externally expresses their disagreement in the comment section of this blog or through email. We then have an exchange of opposing views, or debate, as some call it. I stay away from the term debate. Debate implies an intellectual pissing match based on ego. Debaters and spectators of debaters focus more on who’s right as opposed to what’s right.

When you debate, or outright argue, based on ego, you tend to stick with your view even when proven wrong or ineffective. You can’t admit externally through debating words that your long held view is wrong- even though internally, through your grudging and reluctant epiphany thoughts, you do agree. If you admit to it, that’s also admitting you lost the debate. You also lose your identity because you attach your identity to your opinions. Thus, you now have to keep pretending to believe your old, outdated views and eventually use mental alchemy to re-convince yourself to re-believe your old, convoluted opinions.

Are There Winners and Losers?

Are there winners and losers when it comes to opinions? I’m more concerned about what’s right as opposed to who’s right; whether that be you being right and I “lose” the debate, or it’s me who’s right and I “win” the debate. In truth, there are no winners and losers. If I’m proven wrong, I will admit it, recant my old view, and even shout the person out who enlightened me. I love occasionally being proven wrong or being taught a new layer of truth on top of what I already know. This means I learned something new. So I win either way. The real losers are the people who attach vanity and ego to their opinions and views and refuse to disavow them as a result, all in the name of being right and winning a debate.

I’m an intelligent brother who knows a lot. But my intelligence comes, not from how much I know, but from how much I want to know. I have an insatiable curiosity and need to know more and learn more. You should adopt that same mentality. Let’s build, Black people. Let’s get high off knowledge and wisdom. Let’s elevate our minds.
